You Will Save 50 to 70% on Your Heating and Cooling Bills When You Follow The EnergyWise System. We Guarantee It.
Recently, we received a call from the EPA regarding five houses in the Chicago area. These houses are approximately 5,000 square feet in size and are being sub-metered and monitored by the EPA to refine and validate their HERS (Home Energy Rating System) program. The EPA was puzzled and was about to learn that R-values alone do not accurately predict real-world performance.
For one of the five houses, an ICF structure, EnergyWise performed the mechanical engineering analysis and provided a guarantee at $100 per month for heating and cooling. The other four houses were built with standard "energy efficient" construction. The EPA told us that their rating system predicted slightly better performance from the EnergyWise engineered home, but not significantly. What their sub-metering determined surprised them. While the EnergyWise home averaged $100 per month, as we predicted, the other four houses averaged between $500-$600 per month. This was the start of our ongoing discussions with the EPA! Put simply, the EPA wants to know how we do it.
The thing to remember is that a "leaky" home or building is not "energy wise." We begin by calculating the HVAC requirements for each structure including zoning and sizing of all HVAC equipment and room by room CFM load requirements. Air infiltration is addressed based on the type of construction used. Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF), Structural Insulated Panels (SIP) and Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) insulated structures, by nature, provide a monolithic exterior shell that is very tight. We require caulking every place air can infiltrate: multiple joints, window and door frames, sill plates, plumbing and electrical penetrations, etc... EnergyWise shows you everything you need to do.
A recent U.S. Department of Energy report said demand for electricity is likely to grow 40 percent in the next 22 years in the United States alone. The price of that energy will surely increase right along with the demand.
The best hedge against these increasing energy costs is to build responsibly utilizing EnergyWise technologies. We guarantee it!
EnergyWise Systems Engineering Experience
EnergyWise has successfully engineered virtually every HVAC system configuration imaginable including geo-thermal, radiant heating, solar and, of course, standard forced air systems. We realize that many systems effectively utilize a hybrid approach by incorporating more than one system solution. The proprietary EnergyWise engineering software program and our unique systems engineering approach can account for these variances.
